I’m an award winning freelance journalist with extensive
experience writing about health and medicine, travel and lifestyle issues. Since graduating from Utah State
University with a bachelor’s degree in print journalism in 2000, I’ve honed my skills as a feature writer for
leading publications around Australia and New Zealand. I am a regular contributor to the Weekend Australian
Health, CareerOne and special supplements, as well as to the Medical Observer, a weekly newspaper for doctors.
My feature writing and photography has also appeared in a diverse range of other publications, from Madison and
Marie Claire to the travel and escape sections of The Sunday Telegraph and The New Zealand Herald.
My work as a health journalist has been recognised through a number of media awards. In 2007 I was
named winner of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists Media Award as well as the
Jelly Baby Media Award for writing about diabetes, and was named runner up for the Luminous Award for excellence
in cancer journalism. I won the 2006 Luminous Award.
